The continued quality of teaching has once again been evidenced by the outstanding results returned in external examinations. We are delighted to report that the external examination results achieved by our students once again far exceed the percentages gained by students in British schools. Approximately 100 school candidates were entered for one or more (I)GCSE examinations in the summer of 2017. These candidates made over 450 individual subject entries in 28 different syllabuses resulting in 98 A* passes, 81 A’s and a massive 369 entries achieving between an A* to C grade. In considering the magnitude of these achievements by students of The Lady Elizabeth School, it is important to compare them with the National UK averages: A*- A LES = 38.2% UK = 21.3%; A*- C LES = 78.8% UK = 65.4%.
The A Level results also did not disappoint, with approximately 190 entries in 23 different syllabuses resulting in an amazing 26 A* passes, in subjects such as Spanish, Marine Science, Dutch, Biology, Photography, Russian, English Literature, and History. 80% of students achieved an A* to C grade, compared to the National UK average of: 77.5%.
It is also important to consider the fact that a high percentage of LES candidates sit their examinations in English, a language that is not their mother tongue.
