The Dragons' Den was a really fabulous learning experience for Business Studies students - our budding entrepreneurs! Dragons, Andy Stammers from Bay Radio, Jan McDowell-Edmondson from Telitec, Danny Sanders from Villalux, Head of Humanities, Mrs McClaren and Deputy Head of School, Mr Castle, were all extremely impressed with the students’ ability to pitch their ideas in front of a theatre full of fellow students and staff.
In total there were 18 pitches throughout the day along with inspirational videos, speeches, PowerPoints, presentations from Six Form students and so much more. The five minute pitches were designed to convince the Dragons' that the idea being pitched was worthy of financial support. It was difficult to choose the final winners but eventually the vote was put to the students.
In third place was Jack with his pitch; Walking Possibilities. In second place with their pitch; GTech, were, Flora, Emma, Leigh, Irene, Jude, Jack, Olivia and Scott. Year 11 students, Tom and Kerris, were the overall winners with their excellent pitch; Brownie Express. Their idea was well-supported and the Dragons were impressed with their presentation and delighted when they got to sample home-made brownies!
Thank you to our guest speakers who included former pupil, Marie Therese Bitterlich, Ian Shave, founder and director of IGS Solutions and Fidelma Matthews from Solar Spain.
A special thank you to our Dragons for giving up their time to help with the event and also to Mrs Lynn Bruce for all of her hard work in organising the event!
