On Monday the 11th March the GCSE and A Level Business Studies students were given the opportunity to complete a Primary and Secondary Market Research Project at the Valor Chocolate Factory in Villajoyosa and the La Marina Shopping Centre in Finestrat.
Students quite often see Business Studies as an academic only subject, without making the connections that, what they learn in the classroom, can be used in the real world! During our visit, students learnt about the history of making chocolate and they observed different manufacturing processes. They saw the marketing material, the different products on offer and they had the opportunity and enjoyment of tasting the drinking chocolate and bars of chocolate etc.
The students could see how to use Primary and Secondary Market Research, when launching new business ideas and products e.g. what are the competition doing, scientifically?
Our students were exceptionally well behaved, well mannered, pleasant young adults and got praise from the Valor staff, for their perfect behaviour.
Later in the year, the students will be looking at launching a new product of their own, and their research findings will be invaluable when deciding the Unique Selling Point of their new business idea. The students will present their new business ideas on the Dragon´s Den Day - watch this space!!!
