Admissions Policy

Foundation

There are no previous requirements for a child applying for a place in Foundation.

If a child has special needs, the SEND Department will be involved in the Admission procedure to ensure that The Lady Elizabeth School can provide the required support. If the school lacks the resources to cover the needs, the family will be informed and alternatives will be recommended.

Primary

The Lady Elizabeth School requests all previous school reports when a child applies for a place in Primary.

The child will be offered to come to the school for a Taster Day to learn more about the school and as part of setting a smooth transition to the school.

Pupils applying to year four and above will be asked to sit the Online Placement Instrument (OPI) from the Australian Council on Education Research (ACER) to gauge their levels in Mathematics and English. The results of this online assessment are immediate and will be added to the child’s application.

Primary students are offered a place at The Lady Elizabeth School if there is agreement the school can meet the learning needs of the child.

KS3

The Lady Elizabeth School requests primary school reports from the previous 2 years for a student applying for a place in Secondary.

Applying pupils will be asked to sit the Online Placement Instrument (OPI) from the Australian Council on Education Research (ACER) to gauge their levels in Mathematics and English. The results of this online assessment are immediate and will be added to the child’s application.

Prospective students will be invited to spend a Taster Day at The Lady Elizabeth School. The Head of Secondary will collect feedback on the student’s academic levels and engagement with the program and the Head of Secondary will give their feedback to the Admissions Department.  If a child is unable to attend, alternative measures, such as Skype interviews, will be taken in order to learn more about the talents and interests of the child as part of evaluating the application.

KS4

The Lady Elizabeth School requests school reports from the previous 2 years for a student applying for a place in Key Stage 4 of Secondary.

Applying pupils will be asked to sit the Online Placement Instrument (OPI) from the Australian Council on Education Research (ACER) to gauge their levels in Mathematics and English. The results of this online assessment are immediate and will be added to the child’s application.

Prospective students will be invited to spend a Taster Day at The Lady Elizabeth School. The Head of Secondary will collect feedback on the student’s academic levels and engagement with the program and the Head of Secondary will give their feedback to the Admissions Department.

If a child is unable to attend, alternative measures, such as Skype interviews, will be taken in order to learn more about the talents and interests (as well as GCSE course preferences) of the child as part of evaluating the application.

6th Form

The Lady Elizabeth School requests school reports from the previous 2 years for a student applying for a place in the Sixth Form of Secondary.

Applying pupils will sit entrance test in Mathematics and English if they have not met their national level qualifications in these subjects.  Subject choice may be limited based on previous examination performance.

Prospective students will be interviewed by the Head of Sixth Form (preferably in person however possibly via Skype) who, in consultation with the Head of Secondary will give their feedback to the Admissions Department.
