Year 5 continued learning about rivers by going to The Fonts D´Algar. We used our geographical skills to measure the flow of water at different points of the river using string and a lemon – the children had to time how long it took the lemon to float 10 metres and find the average each time. This data will feed into our geography lessons back in the classroom and was a fantastic way for children to apply their understanding about different features of a river in a real context. The water might have been very cold, but we quickly got used to it and a great time was had by all in this beautiful area.
