26th May 19
Last Thursday, 23rd of May, The Lady Elizabeth School had the pleasure of hosting a series of activities for pupils from the Raquel Payá School in Denia, a school focusing on children with special needs. The students participated in a cooking class, making fruit filled crepes and took part in some football challenges and activities. Finally, they were awed by a dog display presented by the Project KYA where students from LES train therapy dogs to perform tricks!
LES pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 acted as helpers, guides and buddies throughout the morning and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They were a credit to themselves and LES!
After an action packed morning, the whole team had lunch and pupils from Raquel Payá were presented with prizes and certificates.
This event is the first of our All Together/’Todos Juntos’ programme which aims at bringing LES pupils closer to the local community and taking an active role in supporting children with different abilities.
The event was a joint effort with CSBas Coaching, who has been actively involved in similar events over the last years. The Lady Elizabeth School looks forward to working with him in the future and our pupils, who helped on the day, are excited to be visiting Raquel Payá to see their buddies in the very near future!
LES will be hosting another similar event on the 18th of June, organised by Head of Red House, Diego Estrada, when the group Condenados al Bordillo visit LES. Condenados al Bordillo are an organisation in Denia which support extra-curricular activities with children and adults with special needs. We look forward to this visit when all LES pupils will participate in different activities with students from Condenados al Bordillos!
