15th April 19
Year 7 Valenciano students visited ‘La Albufera de Valencia’ on Wednesday 10 April. They enjoyed a boat trip with skipper, “Tio Pastilla”, a local fisherman, who spoke to them about the environment and taught them to identify the birds that populate the rice fields.
They also saw a Valencian ‘Barraca’ (barracks), which are ancestral constructions typical of Albufera. The houses were used until the 19th century and are a good example of the architecture in the area.
They ended the day with a tour of the town of Palmar, collecting data on the culture of the area.
