2nd April 19
Cycling champion, Juan Ayuso, goes from strength to strength! After finishing the top in Spain in the Cadete Category, he has graduated to Category Junior – Under 19s. He races for the Cantabrian Bathco Team. His training schedule is demanding but cycling is his passion and he enjoys all of the hard work and especially competing. His most recent race was in Belgium – the ‘Gent–Wevelgem’ – In Flanders Fields. This extremely challenging race included the ‘Kemmelberg’, which was brutal due to a nasty climb on cobble stones finishing with a 20% ramp on the slippery stones. Unfortunately, Juan fell during the first race and was unable to finish due to injury resulting from the fall. As it was a World Cup Race it was disappointing for Juan not to be able to complete the event.
He will be racing on 14 April in France in the Paris-Roubaix Challenge 2019. This is another challenging and technical ride with several cobble-stoned sections in the 70 km race! It is a World Cup Qualifying race and one that Juan really wants to do well in.
Juan would like to take his riding to the top level and to one-day race for a team in the Tour de France and the Vuelta de España!
Good luck Juan – we look forward to hearing all about your cycling career!
