Mr Baldwin's Pending Visit to Makimei in Kenya

6th February 19

Last year, the Charity Walk (21 kilometres from the old site in Lliber to our new school on the Cumbre del Sol) raised a staggering 19,500 euros for the Makimei Orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya in memory of our head girl Tallulah Beard and teacher Pilar Gaughan.

Next week, Mr Baldwin will visit the orphanage to get to know the children and the staff and discuss ways to build a strong, ongoing relationship between Makimei and L.E.S.

He plans to come back with a real understanding of the challenges that the orphanage faces and how we can help, and a plan for developing links with the orphanage, including the possibility of sending older pupils to volunteer there.

Mr Baldwin will present more information about what is to be known as the Blue Heart Project to the pupils, and, via this newsletter, to the wider school community as soon as he returns from Kenya.  We wish him a safe and fulfilling journey!
