Year 1 pupils have been learning lots about materials and their properties as part of their new topic ‘The Magic Toy-maker’. Over two sessions they worked hard to build a replica of the houses from the traditional tale the ‘Three Little Pigs’. They used straws, lolly sticks and plastic bricks to produce their versions of the well-known houses.
Once finished, they completed the final part of their investigation by attempting to blow down the houses using a substitute wolf (aka a hairdryer)! The children made predictions beforehand and for the most part they were spot on!! They loved watching what happened to their creations and excitedly told their teachers which material the best was for making a pig house!
