On Saturday, the swimming team participated in their first swimming competition in Pego. Their great performance and wonderful attitude helped to promote the good sporting reputation of The Lady Elizabeth School. It is impossible to focus on one single swimmer, as many of them managed to win their respective races, securing a place in the final series of the next competitions.
The competition began with the youngest category where our boys managed to win in all their races, both in 50-metre freestyle and 25-metre breaststroke.
In the afternoon, the majority of the team competed in categories from Alevín to Juvenile. Members of the club managed to come first or second in all races, recording excellent times in the 25 metre pool despite training sessions taking place in a 15 metre pool; a distinct disadvantage for our swimmers. The competition was organised in three sets, freestyle, breaststroke and relays. The youngest swimmers performed 50 metres while the rest had to do 100 metres in freestyle. In breast-stroke the distance changed to 25 meters and 50 meters respectively.
In the relay events we combined with the Benitatxell team to form mixed relay teams. Once again our swimmers performed well and obtained many points for the team. Our relay teams recorded a win the in ‘Juvenile’ category and came third in ‘Infantil’, and ‘Alevín’.
The coaches, Isaac Martín and Karen Reynolds were extremely proud of all of the participants and their dedication in during training sessions. The goal is to continue improving day by day in the first year and that the important thing is to reach the end of the season having improved times regardless of the result. Thank you to the parents for their support! Well done ‘chic@s’, see you in January!
