All the world’s a stage… and all of LES Year 5 are players on it!
As part of our Literacy learning, pupils in Year 5 visited the Careline Theatre in Alcalali to find out about how a working theatre operates and tread the boards whilst testing out their own playscripts.
Our very own Mrs Crabb is the stage manager at the theatre and showed us how to create lighting and special effects including smoke machines and spotlights. We were also very fortunate to receive some acting tips from Mr Crabb and the dynamic duo entertained us all with a classic cream pie scene – poor Mr Crabb was the victim this time!
Each child had the opportunity to perform their playscript inspired by Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Kaspar’ and we were very impressed by the quality of acting on show. These experiences helped them to get better at projecting their voice, moving effectively around the stage and considering the actor’s point of view when writing a script for the stage.
As well as taking on the roles of actor and stage manager, the pupils enjoyed a trip to the snack bar to buy some interval treats.
