Visit from Mexican Students and Teachers

10th May 17

Five Mexican students from Instituto Thomas Jefferson School In Mexico City joined The Lady Elizabeth School for two weeks. Four students stayed in the Boarding Facility with boarding pupils from LES. The fifth student stayed with Year 11 pupil, Jaime Gomez. Jaime, who visited Mexico last year after winning an essay competition, was delighted to have his friend Emilio stay with him and to be able to return the hospitality given by Emilio and his family during his stay in Mexico. All students from Mexico enjoyed a variety of activities whilst visiting the area and also attended some lessons during the school week to experience school life in Spain.

The Boarding House grew from three pupils to seven with everyone making friends quickly and sharing some great times together. Some nights there were thirteen around the dinner table creating a great atmosphere and a lot of noise!

Future exchanges between Mexico and Spain are planned which will provide excellent cultural experiences for participating students.

The students and teachers from Mexico were great ambassadors and it was a pleasure to see their smiling faces around the school.

Trip to Valencia

A great day was spent in Valencia with a guided tour of the city followed by a bike ride along the dry river, Turia. Students enjoyed paella for lunch and a quick look around the shops before returning to the boarding house for dinner. Isabella, who was staying with a host family in Elche and spending time at Newton College, joined in with the activities for the day.

Guadalest and Fonts D’Algar

When visiting the Marina Alta area Guadalest and Fonts D’Algar are a wonderful place to visit. Guadalest is very historic and Font D’Algar are quite spectacular. Some pupils were brave enough to face the freezing water and jumped in from the platform.
