21st March 17
Year 8 pupils had a very busy day during a cultural trip to Valencia to witness the spectacular Mascleta and other activities surrounding the week before the famous Las Fallas fiesta. The day started with a tour of the Museu de Fallero where students were able to study the interesting ninots from past Fallas. Afterwards they had free time to explore the beautiful indoor market and sample some of the delicious fruit or other treats. Lunch was eaten whilst waiting for the start of the Mascleta in the Plaza de Ayuntamiento, the main square in Valencia. The Mascleta this year was even louder and longer than other years with the crescendo shaking the whole ground and filling the air with smoke from the fireworks. It was then off to Gulliver’s Park to spend time relaxing and enjoying the slides before heading back to school on the bus.
A great day was had by everyone and it was wonderful to experience the magnificence of such a great fiesta in such a beautiful city.
