The Emaus Charity Run is always held on the last day of term before the Christmas holidays. All students and many members of staff enjoy the run, or walk, around the beautiful grape vines in the Jalon Valley. Each year more and more runners participate in the longer 5 kilometre alternative into Jalon and finishing with the other runners at the restaurant below the Senior School. This year there were approximately 15 runners who completed the longer race including nine staff. Sr Martinez ran superbly to finish in first place. Shortly behind Sr Martinez were Boris Sorkin and Mr Lopes who battled valiently for second position with Boris sprinting the last 50 metres to just finish ahead of Mr Lopes in second place.
Year 9 pupil, George Devenish, led the rest of the school home with a very fast time, finishing just in front of Boarding House student, Andy Shen.
It was a great way to start the last day of term and money was raised for the Emaus Childrens’ Charity.
Thank you as always to the PE staff for organising it and to the many staff who marshalled the event and of course to the students and staff who participated and helped raised money for a very worthwhile charity.
