International Week Mastermind, Gaelic Football and Drumming Workshop

25th June 16

During International Week pupils from Key Stage 3 were challenged with a Mastermind Competition involving questions based on information contained in the many displays around the theatre. Geographical and cultural topics were chosen from the many different countries represented.

A number of students and teachers joined in the drumming workshop conducted by, Poco Loco Steel Pans. This very noisy workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to the members of the band for helping the students to experience something so wonderful and completely different.

Peadar and Oisin McCaughey taught a number of students the basic rules and skills of Gaelic Football. This fast moving traditional Irish game uses a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands), to get the round ball into the opposition goal. It took a while for some to get used to the rules as they are very different to the football which is generally played by the students from school.
