The 2016 Annual Careers Fair at Laude The Lady Elizabeth School proved once again to be a great success, both with the students and the delegates who took part. The Fair is held every year to give the students a chance to meet people from the community from a range of different career areas so that the students can find out all about what skills and qualities helped them get to where they are today. The Fair is specifically targeted at Years 9 & 11 to help these students make more informed choices for their GCSE and A level subjects, and the Fair began with a keynote talk from the Head of Careers at the school, Mr Headford, on “Making the Right Choices”. After this students went to three further sessions of their choice run by invited delegates. The range of careers represented this year was wider than ever before, and two ex-students were also amongst the delegates. This was our 5th Annual Careers Fair, and we hope it will continue in the future, and remain an inspiration for our young people, as well as helping our school maintain its close links with the local community.
The delegates this year were: Jean-Paul Gillett, ex-student, now a Civil & Environmental Engineer, Alejandro Garcia, also an ex-student and now a qualified lawyer, Anne-Karin Barmen from Watkins Wilson Estate Agency in Moraira, Karen Gardner, dentist, Elaine Horton a retired social worker who is now President of Jalon Valley Help, Martin Johan Rongen, a consultant general surgeon with Hospital Clinica Benidorm, Mara Baño, who has a range of business interests in the marketing and hospitality sector including working for La Sella Golf Course, the Marriott Hotel in Denia and running the Denia Jazz Café, Priscila Welter, who has her own business designing and selling designer handbags to all the big fashion houses, Sra Garcia Garrido, trained as a lawyer but now running her own International Fashion Magazine, and Evaristo Torres, Architect. Thank you to all of them for giving of their time to take part.
