29th December 15
Led by Mr Hollingworth, several pupils gave up their Sunday to clean up Calle Moraig in Benitachell. This is an ongoing project which will take place once a month until the end of the Academic Year. Each month Mr Hollingworth will choose a beach and the clean-up will take place both under the water and on the actual beach. Mr Hollingworth, who is a Marine Biologist and a qualified Scuba Diving Instructor, is concerned for the environment and is prepared to give up several of his Sundays to lead the clean-ups. Some students who are participating in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award are using this opportunity to help complete the Service part of their Award. Armed with rubber gloves and garbage bags Mr Hollingworth and the students combed the beach looking for anything that did not belong on the beach. They collected several bags of rubbish making Calle Moraig a much nicer place for people to visit.
Thank you to Mr Hollingworth and the students who gave up their Sunday for the first part of this ongoing initiative.
