19th October 15
On Sunday October 18, thirty-eight students and four staff enjoyed the first International Award Training Day for the Academic Year. Participants walked approximately 14 kilometres along the Via Verde Rio Serpis track from Villalonga to Lorcha. It was an excellent training walk for the Award as the track is gentle and the weather was perfect. Students were required to carry all of their supplies for the day and the only other requirement was for them to enjoy themselves. The Rio Serpis walk is very beautiful and as always it is nice to see and appreciate different areas of Spain. Everyone had a great day and the effort put in by all of the students was a credit to them.
Next week, during half term, some International Award participants are travelling to Torla in the Pyrenees to walk in the magnificent Ordesa National Park. They are staying in cabins overnight and will complete three different walks on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively. This is an important part of their training for the Adventurous Journey which every student must undertake to receive their Award.
