29th September 15
Each year, on September 21, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world. It is a day proclaimed by the United Nations for devotion to strengthening the ideals of peace among all nations.
The Lady Elizabeth School celebrated this event, through Citizenship classes, with a number of informative presentations during assembly based on the current refugee crises. There was also a cake stall to raise money for ‘Save the Children Refugee Fund’ and Year 9 organised their Tutor Groups to gather on the sports court to form a giant ‘human’ ‘PEACE’. Citizenship groups made beautiful doves, wrote poems and conducted research directly related to PEACE issues around the world.
