Plant adaptation within different climates was the theme for our joint Science and Geography trip to the Jardin Botanico in Valencia. The children acquired firsthand experience of tropical plants, cacti, carnivorous plants and other plant life from the different climatic zones around the world.
In the laboratories, using microscopes, the children were able to observe the oil produced by the rosemary leaf which protects it during our hot summers and how the lily´s hollow stem structure helps it to float. The biologists leading the groups were able to answer the many questions the children had and a great day was had by all.
