Year 5 Dissection of Flowers

24th April 15

Life Cycle was the topic for Term 3 and Year 5, building on their knowledge gained from their visit to the Jardin Botanico, turned their hand to investigating the structure of a flower by dissecting a tulip. Armed with plastic gloves and a pencil, the children first drew and labelled a tulip and a lily, and then separated the various parts to identify and observe the colour and number of the petals, stamen, carpels and leaves. It was a wonderful way to see how they applied their knowledge gleaned from books and the website into real life.
