The latest training hike for the International Award students took them to Sierra Bernia. After climbing the steep slippery slopes of the mountain on the Benissa side, they had to crawl through a tunnel to reach the Benidorm side. The difficult start to the walk was rewarded by magnificent views over Benidorm and Altea. The walk continued across the scree slopes, which were a little easier than the initial stages, but still challenging in some areas. Lunch was enjoyed at the ruins of the fort and then it was all downhill back to the start. Costa Blanca once again turned on beautiful weather and the Award participants finished the somewhat difficult walk faster than anticipated.
Everyone enjoyed the day and it is great to see the Award students showing dedication by giving up another Sunday to complete a training walk.
Award participants are currently working on their three compulsory sections: Physical Activity, Service and Skill, which all have to be completed for them to achieve their Award.
