From this September we will be opening the doors to our new boarding facility at Villa Fustera which is situated near Benissa and close to the Senior School. This will initially be for students aged 14-18, for GCSE and A Level courses at The Lady Elizabeth School who are working towards examinations which will be a stepping stone to a successful future career. Teachers who are already known to our students, will also provide some additional support for study during the evenings and for part of the weekend.
In the past boarding or being sent away to school was thought of as a punishment. However, thanks to ´Harry Potter´ and the ease of travelling, parents and pupils have, in recent years, witnessed the real benefits of their children spending some time away from home in a residential setting. Our boarding ethos will be ´work hard and play hard` and we aim to provide the perfect balance of study with social time and also opportunities to learn and develop life skills which will help the students to grow in confidence, organisation and maturity as they spend some time away from home living here with friends and caring staff. There are extracurricular activities throughout the week and special events and activities at the weekends to both entertain and provide fun and enjoyment in between organised study time.
Support for the pupils´ studies is one of our main aims and dedicated staff will be able to offer guidance and encouragement when completing school work after supper in the evening, or for part of the time spent at school during the weekend. This takes some considerable pressure away from busy parents. It also encourages pupils to become independent but also to work alongside each other and to focus and reach their true potential.
The boarding accommodation meets with the highest level of National Boarding Standards and follows the guidelines and principles of all safeguarding and child protection policies for pupils in residential accommodation at school.
We are delighted to be welcoming in September, International boarders from other countries who are keen to learn more about our Spanish culture and to study here with the British curriculum, which will enable them to access courses at top Universities in the UK, Europe and the US.
For further information, please download a copy of our September Timetable and Menu for boarders, together with a copy of the Pupil and Parent Handbook, and feel free to contact our Head of Admissions & Marketing, Mrs Pepa Ivars who will be pleased to help you.
We look forward to welcoming our first boarding students in September.
