Facilities - Junior
In September 2009 we were delighted to welcome Lady Elizabeth Junior School pupils back from their summer holidays into our brand new facility in Cumbre Del Sol.
With panoramic views of the Mediterranean, the building hosts 30 large air-conditioned classrooms. Interactive White Boards are installed in four of the classrooms and also in the multi-purpose room and are utilised by all members of staff.
The Early Learning Years, (Pre-Nursery 1 and 2 and Foundation 1 and 2), have an area which is specifically designed for our youngest members of the School. Each classroom in the Early Learning Area has a bathroom and the large doors open onto the enclosed patio, with soft fall flooring, where all of their excellent outside play equipment is kept.
The library is a popular place to visit at all times. It provides an opportunity for the pupils to increase their knowledge by choosing their own library books from a choice of over 5,000 books, Fiction, Non Fiction, English and Spanish. There are also a large number of board games and puzzles for the students to enjoy.
Children of all ages enjoy their ICT lessons in the purpose built ICT facility. The computers are state of the art with large flat screen monitors and fast internet access. The pupils have access to a wide range of computer software including: word processing, multimedia presentations, drawing software, databases and spreadsheets as well as using a wealth of information and web pages available on the internet in a safe and secure environment.
The heated indoor swimming pool, indoor gymnasium and sports court are used on a daily basis for PE classes and also after school for Plus Clubs. All pupils have the opportunity to swim throughout the year and are given quality swimming instruction from an early age. There are change rooms in the swimming pool complex and also next to the gymnasium.
The Dining Room is spacious, bright and cheery and there is a daily dining service available.
Music lessons are conducted in the music room which is equipped with key boards and many other instruments. Two separate rooms are dedicated to individual music lessons.
Outdoor play areas in the Junior School are large and separated into areas for specific age groups. Each area has play equipment and shaded areas with tables and chairs. There is a grassed area and areas with artificial grass.
The Psicomotricidad Room is full of play equipment specifically designed to enhance and develop the motor skills, both small and large of young children. The specialised equipment allows the children to experiment with different movements and actions and to learn the limitations and the capabilities of their bodies in a safe and controlled environment.
